I had so much fun shooting Mollie’s bridal session back at the beginning of July. She wanted to do an all-indoor session and I think we rocked it. I’m absolutely loving having the studio as an option for shoots and client meetings now, and the 95-100º heat we’ve been having lately lined up perfectly for us to stay inside. Mollie has been a good friend for several years now, and I was so excited to shoot her bridals. She looked stunning and I LOVED her dress. A beautiful strapless bubble hem gown that was handmade for her in New York and fit her like a glove. Enjoy a few of my favorites!

After a quick veil addition and a location change, we kept rolling.

This black & white shot is a new favorite bridal image. I love the raw, candid feel.

Amy’s bridal session was a blast! The weather threatened to shift things around, but luckily everything worked out just perfect. While Amy was finishing up with her hair appointment, lightning may have been striking off in the distance. But that’s ok! The distance was far far away – I’d never endanger a bride just for the shot…maybe. The storm’s edge may have been just out of reach, but the winds that came with it stayed behind a little and I think we used it to our advantage! After the shoot was over, it thrilled me to hear Amy say, “I’m SO glad I did that! I feel so confident now!” Bridal sessions rock for several reasons, but this might be the new list topper. I’m so excited for Amy + Brett, and their wedding this weekend was fantastic. Keep an eye out for their wedding post later this week (sneak peek here)! (Also, a shout-out to the amazing Erin Silver for her beautiful job on Amy’s hair!)

Welllll…I had intended to publish this post at around, say, 2:00 this afternoon. That is, until a midday nap snuck up on me in a very cruel way and took me out like an elephant tranquilizer. Ahem, anyways… Meeting a client to shoot in a place I’ve never seen is always an adventure! But I love the creative challenge of finding locations and bringing things together to create a beautiful image. Mallory’s bridal session was right at the end of April in Sumter, SC. For the end of April, temperatures were, well, a little warm, but she knocked it out of the park. Her dress fit her perfectly and she was beaming. I got into town and she took me on a little tour of the area to show me a few places she’d scouted out ahead of time – I think she did very well! The shoot was a blast and I love the images we got. The last two locations weren’t planned at all. We were en route to one final location when we passed this beautiful field and grove of trees. Some opportunities are too hard to pass up! The awesome couple who owned this field were gracious enough to let us use it for a little while as long as I promised to show them a few of the shots when we finished. Done deal! As far as the grove of trees goes, hopefully the forestry association never saw us sneak in from the road.

Stunning. Yeah, I think that about covers it for Lauren’s bridal session. I’ve been itching to post these for several weeks now so I’m glad the time has finally come! Lauren is beautiful and so comfortable in front of the camera. I’ve absolutely loved working with her! We shot these a little over a month ago after postponing once due to bad weather, and I couldn’t be happier with what we got. Enjoy!

Lauren LOVES her horse Cherokee. She asked if we could finish up her shoot at her parents property with Cherokee. Absolutely NO objections from me.

Meg looked BEAUTIFUL in her wedding dress! When she started telling me what her dress looked like, I knew I was going to love shooting her bridal session, and I was right. I’ve talked before about how my brides are awesome and how they battle the elements and not-so-comfortable temperatures to pull off a great shoot. Well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a cozy 72º for Meg’s shoot. Daylight savings time had just ended and Murfreesboro sits just into the Central time zone on its eastern edge. Sunlight doesn’t last long (the sun sets about 4:45pm – too early for me!) and the temperatures drop quickly. The high for the day was only in the low 40′s, so you can imagine how that feels as the sun goes down wearing a strapless wedding dress! Luckily, Meg invited Katie and me to come up the day before her shoot, so we got to scout locations beforehand. A lot of times I don’t have that luxury, but I was happy to take advantage of it.

Getting a new client is one of my favorite things. Not only am I asked to play a part in the most special day of their life, but, more importantly, I come away with a new friendship. Unfortunately, having to turn down a bride because I’d already booked on her date is also part of the gig. Being busy is an incredible blessing that I’m very thankful for, but I hate missing out on a new friendship opportunity because of a date on the calendar. Kayla and Evan recently had their beautiful fall wedding in Simpsonville, SC. Sadly, I was already booked for their date, so they found another photographer to capture their wedding day. Lucky for me, Kayla asked if I would still be interested in shooting her bridal session. Now if you’ve read any of my bridal posts in the past, you probably know that my answer was YES! I think bridal sessions are awesome and I always encourage brides to have one. Being a Clemson grad, Kayla asked if we could shoot in the Clemson area. It was a great choice.

Kayla, you’re a beautiful bride and I’m so thankful I was able to shoot your bridal and engagement sessions. I only wish I could have been there for your wedding day too! Congrats again to you and Evan!
