Allison has been a good friend of mine for a long time now, and it was a privilege to shoot for her. She’s also a photographer, and you can check out her work here. It’s always flattering to shoot for a colleague, so I hope I came through! Recently, she, her husband Kevin, and their new golden retriever puppy Millie, and I spent the morning together so I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from their shoot.

Dreary, overcast days tend not to be the days when people rush outdoors with camera in hand. But they happen to be some of my favorite days to shoot – even light, usually less people out roaming around, and cool color tones. Even though it was an only slightly chilly 35º out, Erin and Evan rocked it. We froze like champs. They were one of the first few to trust me with their wedding day when I started my business (THANK YOU! ), and they’ve been amazing clients and even better friends ever since! I was thrilled for them to come down to Atlanta for their anniversary shoot, even though we had to thaw out afterwards. Enjoy a few of my favorites.

To end their session, I decided to revisit this next spot from a previous shoot. The gray skies leading the way for Snowpocalypse 2011 already had the city slowing down – no passing cars, no lights, no anything – and I think it made for a really interesting scene. A totally different feel than the last time I shot here. Big cities rarely look like a ghost town, but Atlanta seemed that way – at least for a moment.

I love variety. Kayla and Evan’s engagement session had variety. We started off in downtown Anderson mid-evening for a more urban feel and ended up in a hidden field with the sun backlighting them with its warm glow. The sun was definitely setting quickly, but we made it work! Sometimes it seems that the sun just doesn’t want to hang around long enough, as if it’s not on MY schedule or something… Their love for one another and excitement for their upcoming marriage was evident and I was thrilled to be part of their engagement with them. I’m always so honored to be invited to share in another couple’s joy and anticipation for their future together. Thanks again Kayla & Evan – your wedding is going to be awesome!

I love when my past clients refer their friends and family to me because there’s already a connection there when we meet. Enter Cole & Faith. Cole is Erin Silver’s (engagement and wedding) brother so I was really excited for the opportunity to work with their family for a second time. Faith was also one of Erin’s bridesmaids in their wedding so I just knew they were going to be an awesome couple to work with and get to know. We had a blast shooting their engagement session a few weeks ago and I already can’t wait for their wedding in the garden at Twigs Tempietto in Greenville in July!

He just had to beat me to the punch. Shane, one of my best friends and groomsmen for my own wedding, got engaged in January and of course, set his wedding date for just 3 weeks before my wedding. But then again, my only requirement was that he be back in time from their honeymoon to stand with me at the altar for my own wedding so I guess I can’t be that bitter that he’s getting married before me…right? Right. Not selfish at all on my part. He and his fiancée Mallory are just awesome people and I’m honored to be part of their engagement and wedding with them. We shot their engagement session a couple weeks ago in Greenville and I really love what we captured!

Had to grab a few solo shots. How could you not?

So, blogging. Yeah, I haven’t done this in, oh you know, TOO LONG. Sorry about that…BUT the hiatus is over and I’ve got several good things in line to post over the next several days. The first of which is the couples shoot I did recently with Hannah and Jason. I’ve been friends with Hannah for a while now and she was actually one of the first girls I’d ever photographed when I started into photography. As in, I borrowed someone else’s camera for a few days and she happened to be one of the unfortunate subjects in front of my lens. Sorry about that Hannah, hopefully these have turned out better than those did a couple of years ago! Since then, they’ve been pursuing some really cool things. Hannah is an awesome masseuse over at Urban Nirvana in The Shops at Greenridge in Greenville so next time you need a massage, give them a call and ask for her – you won’t be disappointed! Jason, on the other hand, is a baseball star. He was drafted straight out of high school to play for the Boston Red Sox and is now playing for their AA team, the Portland Sea Dogs in Portland, Maine. His off-season just finished up so before it did, and he had to head back up to Maine to start the next season, they wanted to have some updated photos taken. This is such a great idea because you don’t have to be engaged to have a couples shoot – why not just do one for fun? We shot these during one of our snowy/icy/slushy weekends on quite possibly the coldest day yet inside and out, but you’d never know it by their faces and I commend their bravery (’cause I was FREEZING!). Enjoy – I did!
