I thought I’d end this post with a few frames of film from my Contax, which I’m falling deeply in love with.

I had such a great time getting to know Winnie + Greg during their engagement session last week. We found a day to shoot before Winnie heads back out to Texas A&M from Christmas break to finish up her chemical engineering degree. I’m so not jealous of her! Enjoy a few of my favorites from their shoot!

After we left the Smith-Gilbert Gardens, we headed over to the local library. Kyle is a college history professor, and they are both avid readers. They felt right at home.

The choice of book for this shot was heavily debated. Kyle wanted a history book, and Tiffany wanted something a little less serious. After a heated match of rock-paper-scissors, Kyle won out. But he, like any good husband-to-be, let her win in the end.

To finish up their session, we caught the last bits of daylight in nearby downtown Kennesaw and they ended up being some of my favorites from the day. Tiffany + Kyle – I had a blast with y’all, and I can’t wait for your wedding next spring!

Last week, I got to know Patrick during their engagement session in Asheville and couldn’t have had a better time. I’m thrilled to get to know him even better over the next several months. They were so much fun to hang out with, and they were so relaxed and real in front of the camera. Their wedding is in the spring, and I can’t wait. God’s timing is an amazing thing, and the albeit crazy part is that it’s not our timing. He’s a good Father who gives good gifts to his children. Mallory & Patrick – I’m so excited for you both and you were a true blessing to me last week. Mallory, God is faithful and He’s proving it to you.

We met up at the High Museum to start off their shoot, and it was great to see them both! I hadn’t seen them since our initial meeting earlier this year. They’re so natural in front of the camera and so easy to work with. The lines and all-white architecture of the museum give such a clean, modern background that really let them pop.

Since the storm had just moved out of the city that morning, the clouds hung around for a wonderfully overcast afternoon. Beautiful, shadow-free light and incredible color tones.

Leading up to the shoot, Drew mentioned that they wanted to find a rooftop skyline view of Atlanta to shoot with. I contacted the Glenn Hotel in downtown, and they were gracious enough to allow us access to their rooftop restaurant. However, when we arrived, we were told they’d had a small fire in their electrical room that day which disabled power for the entire hotel! They said we were welcome to go up to the top of their parking deck if we wanted, but they were terribly sorry for the unfortunate scenario. We got to the top, and found this beautiful scene. No complaints. God’s favor: +2.

Quick change of clothes and we were off to a few more locations! Seriously, they both looked incredible all day and made my job so easy.

I truly love my clients. They’re amazing. God’s favor: +3.

Alicia + Drew – Thank you both so much for an amazing shoot. You both were so incredibly go-with-the-flow all day, and it was such a blessing! I’m so excited about your images, and I can’t wait for your wedding next month!

After finishing up in downtown Greenville, we headed out to Eric’s farm/their future home to catch a little evening sunlight and finish their session. They just added the swinging bench under this huge magnolia tree in his front yard. Good addition I think.

Between Allison’s teal v-neck top & skinny jeans and Danny’s custom-tailored shirts from his recent trip to China, they showed up looking incredible. (I love when couples put thought into their clothing options prior to the shoot!) We started out in the place where they’ll say their “I do’s” – the entrance to the vat room. High windows with beautiful natural light streaming in made for a perfect beginning. I can’t wait to come back later this year.

Allison laughs so easily, and it’s incredibly contagious.

So yeah, remember that 80% chance of thunderstorms I was talking about? Well, it held off all afternoon – until right at the end. Over the course of a quick 30 minutes, swirling black clouds rolled in, the wind picked up, and the monsoon began…but not before we grabbed one final shot. No way was I going to miss out on an opportunity to shoot with those clouds in the sky!

Sidenote – Allison & Danny also introduced me to my new favorite wedding coordinator out of Atlanta, the wonderful Laura Godfrey. Keep an eye out for a guest blog post coming from her in the near future!

Their engagement session in Greenville this past Saturday was an absolute blast.  For the first frame of the day, I think they nailed it!  (Quick tip for brides: Megan had her makeup professionally done earlier in the day, and I loved it.  She looked flawless!  I highly recommend getting hair/makeup appointments scheduled before a shoot because you’ll love the outcome of your session that much more.  If you don’t know where to go or who to contact, I’d love to get you in touch with some great stylists!)

When talking and planning their shoot, Megan mentioned wanting something inside and different.  I really like what we landed on.

After a quick change of clothes, we headed back outside to catch the last bit of evening light.
