We met for lunch at the beginning of February. The forecast was for a cold and windy Saturday so I picked a place with hot soups, sandwiches, and wraps to help break the chill. But that didn’t stop Van and Brittany from craving cold ice cream for dessert from Spill the Beans. (Side note: After our meeting, Katie drug us through the blustery streets to get ice cream as well. Ok, so maybe it wasn’t quite that graphic. She might have just asked and I said yes.
) Van is a friend of mine from the church we both attended as kids, and I was excited when he contacted me to find out that he’d gotten engaged to his high school sweetheart, Brittany. Their relationship was long distance during college while Van was at the Citadel and Brittany was at Clemson, and it continues while he’s working in Greenville and she’s in Jacksonville, FL. But all the long distance comes to an end soon as their wedding is coming up this October at The Loom in Simpsonville. After their engagement session this past Saturday, I’m already looking forward to being there!
We met before sunrise on the outer edge of Greenville for their early morning shoot. I can’t say I enjoyed waking up so early on a Saturday morning, but shooting at sunrise was a great change of pace. I might try to do that more often!
Morning sunlight has such a fresh quality to it.
After we left the countryside, we might have come back into town for dessert. Who says you can’t have dessert at 10am?

Chris,
I LOVE these pictures! I can’t wait to see more! I heard that it was not only early but also very cold the morning of their session. I know the other engagement pictures will be wonderful, and I can’t wait for the wedding!

Great photos, Chris! Nice to see more SUMC people coming your way and I can’t wait until you shoot our wedding! Though I guess I’ll have to since it’s still a year away…I’ll do my best to be patient
